eTail Names SLI Systems Customer Lakeshore Learning a Finalist for the 2015 ‘Search’ Best-In-Class Award

Lakeshore Learning sees double-digit revenue increase with SLI Learning Search™

SAN JOSE, Calif. – February 10, 2015 – SLI Systems (SLI.NZ), an e-commerce acceleration provider for mid- to large-size Internet retailers worldwide, today announced its customer Lakeshore Learning was named a finalist in eTail West’s Best-in-Class Awards for ‘Search’ innovation and excellence. Lakeshore Learning joins The North Face, Staples Canada and Office Depot in the ‘Search’ Best-in-Class finalist category.

“For the fifth year in a row, eTail West is recognizing leading retailers and brands in the annual Best-in-Class awards,” according to eTail. “This year’s finalists are on the cutting edge in their respective fields, showcasing where the future of e-commerce and multi-channel retail is headed.”

As pioneers in education for 60 years, Lakeshore Learning has successfully evolved as the school supplies industry has changed. When Lakeshore Learning began selling online to both educators and parents, the company discovered that its two major customer segments had very different search styles. By implementing a rich set of features and refinements by SLI Systems, Lakeshore Learning was able to improve its site’s customer experience and offer personalized products relevant to both segments.

“Multi-faceted search allows customers to quickly narrow down hundreds of products and still maintain a clean and robust search experience,” said Sam Sarullo, VP of E-commerce at Lakeshore Learning. “Personalizing the site to draw people into areas most helpful for them has been a big improvement. Since implementing SLI Learning Search™, Lakeshore Learning has seen double-digit online revenue growth, while its average order value went up 30 percent and its conversion rate rose nearly 19 percent.”

In addition to improving search and navigation, Lakeshore Learning used SLI Site Champion™ to make even more of its content easy to find. Site Champion™ dynamically creates SEO landing pages based on actual user searches that are indexed by Google and other Internet search engines. Lakeshore Learning sees a return of $127 for every $1 spent on SLI Site Champion.

Vice President of E-commerce Sam Sarullo will be presenting a case study on Lakeshore Learning’s search strategy at eTail West’s Search Summit on February 17th at 4:50 p.m. Best-in-Class Award category winners will be announced at the eTail Awards Reception on Thursday, February 19th at 6:00 p.m.
