Hosted E-commerce Search Provider SLI Systems Celebrates 5th Birthday
Learning Search™ Innovator Completes Third Profitable Year and Sees 80% Growth in Customer Base Since August 2005
CUPERTINO, Calif. – August 15, 2006 – SLI Systems, Inc., a provider of on-demand search services for Internet and e-commerce sites, turns five this month, and the company has plenty to celebrate. In the past year alone, the company nearly doubled its customer base with 80% more online retailers now using its hosted solutions, and its 2005 fiscal year, which ended in June, marked its third consecutive year of profitability.
Additionally, in response to the continued demand for its suite of e-commerce search solutions, the Learning Search™ innovator added more U.S. sales representatives, hired a business development director and started a partner program, which has grown to 41 partners since it was first announced in February of this year. SLI Systems also opened its first office in London, and moved its North American headquarters to Cupertino, CA.
“This is an exciting time for us as the market continues to realize the unique ROI advantages our solutions offer,” said Dr. Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems. “Our customers have long touted the bottom-line benefits they get from our products, which deliver a better online experience to their customers through more relevant search results. Their acknowledgements are starting to get noticed, as more and more online merchants are choosing to work with us over our competitors.
“They say imitation is the best form of flattery, and we’re seeing our competitors duplicate many of the search features and functionalities we pioneered. However, very few search providers can claim the same approach we take, which is to make the installation and deployment as easy on our customers as possible. We offer a 30-day free trial, and our solutions are highly customizable and flexible. Additionally, because our products are fully hosted, they’re up and running and enable retailers to take advantage of their features in a very quick timeframe,” he concluded.
SLI Systems was founded in 2001 as a search solutions provider for online web sites and Internet portals. The company was spun out of the original GlobalBrain search company, which was later acquired by NBC and Snap.com. SLI decide to focus of its Learning Search technology on the e-commerce market a few years ago once it realized how underserved retailers were in the area of site search and search engine optimization (SEO). Since 2004 the company has rounded out its suite of products to include the Site Champion automated SEO and Ad Champion automated pay-per-click offerings, giving online merchants a complete solution for increasing their presence on the web and capture more sales.
Earlier this year, the company also launched the industry’s first Site Search Feedback Tool (see press release “SLI Systems Introduces Free Site Search Feedback Tool To Help E-commerce Retailers Measure Search Quality” – 4/4/06), which gives e-commerce companies immediate feedback from site visitors on the effectiveness of their site search. The Feedback Tool is available for free download at http://www.sli-systems.com/feedback.php
Retailers using the company’s Learning Search offerings include Tupperware, Harry and David, Smith & Hawken, NRS (Northwest River Supplies), Fright Catalog, and eTronics.com, among others.
