SLI Systems’ Customer Wine Enthusiast Wins “Stars of Search” Award

E-commerce site selected for achieving significant uptick in customer conversions and revenue growth with SLI’s Dynamic Product Banners

Presented by The Search Agency, only three notable individuals received the distinction for demonstrating overall excellence and innovation in paid search, search engine optimization (SEO), mobile marketing, and search retargeting.

Wine Enthusiast, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is a multi-channel retailer that sells its wine storage and accessories worldwide. Glenn Edelman has led the brand’s overall e-commerce strategy for the past 13 years. Given the growing popularity of product listing ads, Glenn found that the product page was becoming the entry into the Wine Enthusiast site. Because product detail pages are so specific to one product, he needed to find a way to showcase a full catalog of products on the detail pages – above the fold – to ensure customers could readily find the products they wanted to purchase.

To help Wine Enthusiast visitors arriving on product pages find the right products and buy from the site – whether they come in from organic or paid search — Glenn partnered with SLI and implemented the company’s Dynamic Product Banners. Now, when a visitor arrives on a Wine Enthusiast product page, SLI’s service automatically displays merchandising banners with additional items related to the terms or phrases the visitor originally typed into the search engine. With this capability, visitors are more prone to stay on the site and complete a purchase as they can readily explore merchandise and quickly find the most suitable product or products.

“To date, Wine Enthusiast has experienced a 17% click-through rate (CTR) on Dynamic Product Banners – a value of more than $6 per click,” said Edelman. When visitors interact with the banners the company sees a 48% increase in revenue-per-click and a 14% increase in conversion rate. The banners are also making a real impact on lowering Wine Enthusiast’s bounce rate from landing pages.”
